Tax Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Tax Specialist to join our finance team in Lagos. You will ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax legislation while providing strategic tax advice to our banking and insurance clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns (VAT, CIT, WHT, PAYE, Transfer Pricing) via FIRS and State IR portals.
• Compute accurate tax liabilities, manage timely remittances and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
• Post tax provisions, reconcile tax balances in the general ledger and support deferred tax calculations under IFRS and Nigerian accounting standards.
• Review invoices and contracts for VAT and WHT compliance, identify tax risks and advise on mitigation.
• Monitor regulatory changes, respond to tax authority queries and represent clients during federal and state tax audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA or CITN is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years hands‑on experience in Nigerian tax practice, including consulting exposure.
