Stabilization Center Doctor (Clinical Lead)

About the role

The Stabilization Center Doctor leads the delivery of high‑quality clinical care for children admitted with severe acute malnutrition, ensuring compliance with national and international CMAM guidelines. Working closely with nutrition staff and health officials, the role combines direct patient care, supervision of the center team, and coordination of program activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily morning and evening ward rounds with nurses and nutrition assistants, documenting patient notes and clinical observations.
• Supervise the clinical management of all patients, coordinating with CMAM assistants and the Nutrition Manager.
• Oversee and mentor stabilization center staff (nurses, nutrition assistants, cleaners, guards) and ensure activity plans meet targets.
• Take blood samples, administer intravenous medications, and perform emergency procedures including resuscitation as needed.
• Manage the storage, charging, and appropriate use of medicines, consumables, and nutrition commodities.
• Facilitate timely referral of complicated SAM cases from OTPs to the stabilization center.
• Participate in the development, monitoring, and reporting of program data and evaluation tools.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD) with experience in pediatric nutrition and CMAM implementation.
• Proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary clinical team and provide on‑the‑job training.
• Strong communication skills for liaison with nutrition officers, CMAM assistants, and community promoters.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to urgent patient care needs.
