Site Coordinator & Chinese Translator

About the role

The position combines site coordination duties with Chinese-English translation to ensure smooth communication between Chinese management and local teams on construction projects in Lagos. You will act as a bridge, facilitating information flow, supporting project administration, and helping resolve language‑related issues on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Translate and interpret daily communications, meetings, and site activities between Chinese and English speakers.
• Assist Chinese management in supervising local staff and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, government officials, and other external stakeholders.
• Translate project documents, reports, contracts, and technical materials accurately and promptly.
• Track assigned tasks, monitor progress, and help resolve communication‑related challenges.
• Organise meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up on action items.
• Support administrative and project coordination tasks as directed by management.

Required profile

• Minimum HSK Level 3 or equivalent Chinese proficiency.
• At least three years of translation or interpretation experience, preferably in engineering, construction, power transmission, or EPC projects.
• Familiarity with power transmission, electrical engineering, or infrastructure terminology.
• Experience coordinating local workforce, subcontractors, or site operations is an advantage.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, site‑based environment under pressure.
