Senior Cost Engineer – Well Engineering

About the role

The Senior Cost Engineer (Well Engineering) provides specialist cost engineering, budgeting, forecasting and financial control support for onshore and offshore exploration, appraisal, drilling and production activities. The role ensures accurate project financial tracking, performance reporting and decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain cost control systems, processes and reporting frameworks for drilling and well engineering projects.
• Prepare and analyse monthly cost reports, including budgets, commitments, VOWD, AFC, accruals and variance analyses with clear management commentary.
• Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, AFEs and annual budget submissions for drilling campaigns and capital projects.
• Produce cost forecasts, funding projections, trend analyses and evaluate project changes and variations.
• Support joint‑venture cost sharing agreements, billing structures and cash‑call processes in collaboration with Finance, Commercial, Legal and Supply Chain teams.

Required profile

• Significant experience in cost engineering for onshore/offshore drilling and well projects.
• Strong analytical and financial reporting skills with the ability to deliver reliable cost information to project teams and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work closely with technical, finance, commercial and supply‑chain functions.
