Research Technician II – Field & Lab Support (2 openings)

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking two qualified Research Technicians II to support field and laboratory activities at its headquarters in Ibadan. This is a 2‑year renewable contract position focused on crop production research, particularly cowpea trials.

Key responsibilities

• Drive staff and casual workers to and from field sites within and outside IITA.
• Supervise subordinate staff and oversee Polytechnic and College of Agriculture students on the SIWES program.
• Assist in planning, establishing, and managing laboratory, screenhouse, and field trials, including data collection.
• Perform screenhouse trial management and execute cowpea crossing procedures.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• OND in Crop Production, Agricultural Science or a related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a similar role within a well‑structured environment.
• Basic knowledge of crop management operations in experimental fields.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
