Quality Improvement Assistant

About the role

The Quality Improvement Assistant will support the HARMONY Care project in Ebonyi State, Nigeria, by ensuring that pregnant women, mothers, newborns and infants receive continuous, respectful care across community and health‑facility platforms. Working under the Quality Improvement Specialist and MNCH Technical Advisor, the Assistant will track referrals, monitor implementation of quality‑of‑care interventions and help close gaps in service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Track community‑to‑facility and facility‑to‑facility referrals using approved tools and confirm that clients receive the required services.
• Support functional referral, counter‑referral and feedback mechanisms between community structures and health facilities.
• Identify missed appointments, incomplete referrals and at‑risk clients, and facilitate timely re‑engagement while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards.
• Conduct routine supportive monitoring visits to assigned facilities and communities, using checklists, observation guides and dashboards.
• Monitor the fidelity of G‑ANC, FPNC, G‑PNC, nutrition, POCUS, PMH and other HARMONY Care interventions.
• Escalate unresolved barriers to access or referral completion to the Quality Improvement Specialist or relevant technical lead.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 3 years of experience in health‑related monitoring, referral tracking or quality improvement.
• Strong understanding of maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) service delivery in low‑resource settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with community health structures, facility staff and project teams.
• Excellent communication skills, with a focus on confidentiality and safeguarding.
