Project Manager – Promoting Rice Fortification in Nigeria

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the 18‑month Promoting Rice Fortification in Nigeria (PRiFN) project in Kano State. The role oversees implementation, budget, monitoring and evaluation, and serves as the primary liaison with the donor to ensure project objectives are met.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit and onboard project team members and conduct rapid assessments of target communities.
• Develop and maintain detailed work plans, risk registers, and procurement plans aligned with project timelines.
• Oversee project budget, ensuring spending follows donor burn‑rate expectations and organizational policies.
• Coordinate monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) activities and ensure high‑quality data collection.
• Lead community entry, sensitisation, and stakeholder engagement across the rice value chain.
• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports to donors on schedule.
• Develop training materials and manage train‑the‑trainer sessions for millers and school feeding partners.
• Represent the project at internal and external events and support business development as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition, Food Science, Agriculture Economics or related field with at least 5 years experience, or Master’s degree with at least 3 years experience.
• Minimum of 3 years project management leadership in the development sector.
• At least 3 years experience implementing agriculture/value‑chain projects in Nigeria.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑stakeholder relationships and deliver nutrition or fortification outcomes.
