Project Engineer – Commissioning & Integration for Renewable Power

About the role

The Project Engineer will act as the Commissioning and Integration Engineer for solar PV, battery energy storage and hybrid power projects. You will be responsible for the full commissioning lifecycle, from control philosophy review to final hand‑over, ensuring all subsystems operate as a coordinated plant.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed operational philosophy, functional design specifications and translate them into control logic, set‑point tables and cause‑effect matrices.
• Configure, program and commission solar and battery inverters (e.g., Sungrow, SMA, Huawei, Fronius, Victron) and hybrid power controllers (e.g., Elum Energy, DEIF, Victron GX, PLC‑based systems).
• Integrate BESS with LC, PCS, EMS, PPC, SCADA, protection, metering and generator controllers, and optimise operating strategies such as VSG, peak shaving and load following.
• Lead SCADA, EMS and PPC commissioning, ensuring proper data acquisition, tag mapping, alarm configuration and system testing.
• Provide technical escalation support, perform root‑cause analysis and produce as‑built documentation, commissioning checklists and lessons‑learned reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical engineering within renewable energy or power‑generation projects.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, organized and able to manage multiple projects under pressure.
• PMP certification is a plus; HSE certification is an advantage.

Required skills

• SCADA, Power Plant Controller (PPC) and Energy Management System (EMS) expertise.
• Industrial communication protocols: Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, RS485, Ethernet, CAN/CANbus, MQTT/API.
• Commissioning of solar and battery inverters from major OEMs.
• Programming and configuration of hybrid power controllers and PLC‑based plant control systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
