Production Manager – Assembly Plant

About the role

Simba Group is seeking a results‑driven Production Manager to lead its assembly plant in Ikeja, Lagos. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality finished goods on time and within cost targets while driving continuous improvement on a dynamic shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and manage day‑to‑day operations of assembly lines to meet volume, quality, cost and schedule targets.
• Monitor production schedules, resource allocation, takt time and workflow balancing.
• Lead, train and supervise supervisors, line leaders and technicians, fostering a culture of accountability.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering for smooth execution.
• Analyse and optimise productivity metrics such as OEE, downtime, cycle time, rejection rate and rework.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, EHS).
• Drive Lean tools implementation (Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, TPM, SMED) and problem‑solving frameworks (PDCA, RCA, FMEA).
• Manage material flow using JIT, pull systems or digital assembly control.
• Support NPI ramp‑up, changeovers and process validation.
• Report performance to senior management and recommend efficiency improvements.
• Integrate new technologies such as robotics or semi‑automated systems in vehicle/battery assembly lines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Production, Industrial or Automobile Engineering.
• 8‑15 years of experience in an assembly shop or manufacturing plant, preferably in automotive, EV or heavy‑equipment sectors.
