Procurement Officer

About the role

The Procurement Officer will manage the sourcing and purchasing of products, materials, and supplies needed for daily supermarket operations. You will work closely with vendors and internal teams to ensure quality, cost‑effectiveness, and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and quality products.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Monitor inventory levels in collaboration with the Inventory Officer to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
• Conduct market surveys to discover new suppliers, pricing trends, and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Verify the quality and quantity of received goods against purchase orders.
• Track supplier performance and resolve any procurement‑related issues promptly.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure timely deliveries.
• Prepare periodic procurement reports and support management with data‑driven insights.

Required profile

• Minimum OND in Business Administration, Purchasing & Supply, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Procurement Officer in a supermarket or retail environment.
• Good knowledge of the Lagos market and supplier network.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and make sound purchasing decisions.
• Male candidates preferred due to client operational requirements and willingness to reside in shared staff accommodation.
