Procurement Assistant

About the role

The Procurement Assistant supports the IRC’s Supply Chain function at the Maiduguri field site, ensuring that program supplies, services and equipment are sourced efficiently, ethically and in compliance with IRC and donor regulations. This role is essential for maintaining transparent, audit‑ready procurement processes that enable timely delivery of humanitarian assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute procurement processes and activities for the Maiduguri field site, adhering to IRC policies and donor requirements.
• Attend procurement committee meetings and provide updates on procurement status.
• Coordinate with Finance, Administration and Programme teams to ensure integrated internal controls, timely vendor payments and complete documentation.
• Maintain transparent and responsive procurement procedures, advising the Logistics Manager on issues and improvements.
• Ensure that all supplies, services and equipment are delivered on schedule.
• Develop and sustain ethical, professional relationships with suppliers.
• Maintain up‑to‑date supplier information for regularly purchased items and monitor local market conditions.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain Officers and internal/external stakeholders for effective procurement planning supporting programme implementation.

• Strong ability to coordinate across Finance, Admin and Programme departments.
• Familiarity with IRC and donor procurement regulations.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
