National Medical Doctor – Clinical Care Provider

About the role

The National Medical Doctor provides comprehensive patient care across primary and secondary health services. The role includes triage, diagnosis, treatment, referral, and health education, ensuring safety and quality in line with Ministry of Health and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality clinical care based on history, examination, lab and imaging results for acute and chronic conditions.
• Conduct daily patient rounds, document progress, adjust management plans, and ensure proper handover.
• Initiate referrals and advanced testing when needed, coordinating with specialist services.
• Lead case discussions and provide hands‑on training to address staff knowledge gaps.
• Collect and analyse medical service data to monitor and improve quality of care.
• Enforce infection prevention and control measures according to MoH and international guidelines.
• Participate in 24‑hour service rotations and supervise other clinical staff as directed.
• Provide health education on disease prevention, nutrition, hygiene, and vaccination to patients and communities.

Required profile

• Medical degree (primary care) with a valid license and board certification or eligibility.
• Minimum 2 years of post‑graduate clinical experience, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Experience in primary health care, maternal‑child health, obstetrics/gynecology, communicable and non‑communicable diseases, or emergency response.
• Strong organizational, communication, and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure, with limited resources, and deploy quickly to emergencies.
• Fluency in English; additional local language proficiency preferred.
