Midwife – Maternal & Newborn Health Services

About the role

Provide maternal and newborn health services to women and infants, following International Medical Corps protocols. Work under a specialist doctor to ensure safe pregnancy, delivery, and post‑delivery care in low‑resource settings.

Key responsibilities

• Implement antenatal, postnatal, and emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC and CEmONC) following national and international guidelines.
• Conduct skilled deliveries independently and manage obstetric emergencies.
• Provide clinical care for survivors of gender‑based violence and manage STI cases.
• Maintain hygiene, sterilization, and universal precautions; clean and perform minor maintenance on biomedical equipment.
• Ensure regular supply, monitoring, and ordering of drugs and maternity equipment.
• Maintain patient privacy, supervise admissions, and ensure accurate documentation and data quality.
• Support breastfeeding counseling and mental‑health promotion for at‑risk mothers and infants.
• Prepare timely reports and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Completed a clinical midwifery education program with a General Nursing and Midwifery Certificate.
• Valid license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of professional midwifery experience in low‑resource settings.
• Fluency in English and local languages.
• Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet).
