Medical Doctor – Health Insurance Program Lead

About the role

The Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS) is seeking a qualified Medical Doctor to lead the design and implementation of community‑focused health insurance packages across Akwa Ibom. This senior position will drive strategic expansion, capacity building, and partnership development to improve health service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee creation of comprehensive, inclusive health insurance packages tailored to community needs.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to expand the health insurance scheme.
• Design and implement capacity‑building programmes for skilled and unskilled healthcare workers.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with community leaders, healthcare providers, government agencies, and donors.
• Conduct routine assessments of service delivery gaps and use findings to improve the system.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
• Monitor and evaluate scheme effectiveness, adjusting strategies as needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to sustain quality service delivery at health facilities.
• Contribute to lessons‑learned documentation and represent ECEWS at forums, meetings, and conferences.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
• Master of Public Health (MPH), MSc in Epidemiology, or equivalent postgraduate qualification (preferred).
• Proven experience in health insurance, community health initiatives, or a similar role.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with community leaders, health authorities, and donor organisations.
