Loan Recovery Officer

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Loan Recovery Officer to join Retrust Microfinance Bank in Lagos. The role focuses on managing overdue loan accounts, engaging with borrowers and guarantors, and ensuring timely repayment to protect the bank’s portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor overdue loan accounts and follow up with customers to secure prompt repayment.
• Develop and implement loan recovery strategies to minimise delinquency and reduce non‑performing loans.
• Conduct field visits to borrowers, guarantors and business locations to facilitate recovery.
• Negotiate repayment plans in line with the bank’s recovery policies.
• Maintain accurate records of recovery activities, customer interactions and repayment arrangements.
• Prepare periodic loan recovery and portfolio performance reports.
• Liaise with internal departments and external recovery agents as needed.
• Ensure compliance with credit policies, recovery procedures and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in loan recovery, credit administration, collections or a similar role within a micro‑finance or financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of loan recovery processes, credit risk management and collection techniques.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High level of integrity, resilience and result‑orientation.
• Willingness to undertake regular field visits.
