Loan Recovery Officer

About the role

The Loan Recovery Officer will be responsible for managing overdue loan accounts, ensuring timely repayments, and minimizing delinquency for the bank. This role involves direct interaction with customers, guarantors, and business locations to facilitate effective recovery while maintaining compliance with internal policies and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor overdue loan accounts and follow up with customers to secure prompt repayment.
• Implement loan recovery strategies to reduce non‑performing loans.
• Conduct field visits to customers, guarantors, and business premises.
• Negotiate repayment plans in line with the bank’s recovery policies.
• Maintain accurate records of recovery activities and repayment arrangements.
• Prepare periodic loan recovery and portfolio performance reports.
• Liaise with internal departments and external recovery agents as needed.
• Ensure compliance with credit policies, recovery procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum HND in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in loan recovery, credit administration, collections, or a similar role within a micro‑finance bank or financial institution.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• High level of integrity, resilience, and result‑orientation.
• Willingness to undertake regular field visits.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
