Junior Trader / Chartist

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Trader/Chartist to join our commodities trading team in Lagos. You will support daily market research, technical analysis and the preparation of trading plans while ensuring portfolio performance stays positive.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily market research across multiple platforms.
• Perform technical analysis on all traded commodities.
• Prepare weekly and daily trading plans.
• Monitor market trends continuously and adjust strategies.
• Record and monitor portfolio positions to maintain a positive balance.
• Generate daily trading and reconciliation reports.
• Manage hedges for physical commodities produced by the organisation.
• Develop financial models for both physical and financial aspects of the business.
• Ensure compliance with risk management processes and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years trading experience in financial markets or commodities.
• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with excellent decision‑making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, think quickly and communicate clearly.

Required skills

• Proficiency with charting tools such as Metastock and TradingView.
• Experience in financial modelling and valuation.
• Good working knowledge of price patterns and trend analysis.
