Internal Control and Audit Officer (Accountant)

About the role

The Internal Control and Audit Officer will oversee the company’s internal control systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance across accounting and data processing activities. The role involves reviewing controls, investigating irregularities, and supporting external auditors to add value to the audit function.

Key responsibilities

• Periodically review and evaluate internal control systems on accounting and data processing activities.
• Prevent errors and fraud through deterrent measures and moral suasion.
• Investigate cases referred by management and conduct detailed examinations.
• Prepare and present audit reports documenting procedures and evidence.
• Check compliance with management controls by examining selected records before and after transactions.
• Detect omission, commission errors, and fraud in financial transactions through document cross‑checking.
• Liaise and cooperate with external auditors to enhance the external audit function.

Required profile

• Minimum HND qualification.
• At least two years post‑NYSC experience in a similar role.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Residency in Kano State or willingness to relocate.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to prepare statistical and narrative reports.
