Internal Audit Officer – Lagos

About the role

The Internal Audit Officer will support MP Infrastructure by independently assessing the effectiveness of business processes across procurement, human resources, IT and other units. The role focuses on identifying risks, ensuring compliance and recommending improvements to safeguard company assets.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate the performance of various business units and conduct physical inventory and cash counts.
• Identify operational bottlenecks, inefficiencies and structural weaknesses and propose practical solutions.
• Assess and mitigate risks, ensuring they are managed within the limits set by the board and senior leadership.
• Monitor changes in industry regulations and verify compliance with applicable laws and standards.
• Review daily operations against internal policies and standard operating procedures.
• Examine accounting records, expense reports and financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze data to detect red flags, irregularities or potential fraud.
• Prepare formal audit reports with findings and recommendations for senior management and audit committees.
• Follow up with department heads to confirm implementation of corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, internal controls or compliance.
• Proven ability to manage audit assignments from planning through reporting.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, audit methodologies and risk‑based auditing principles.
