House Parent

About the role

The House Parent provides day‑to‑day pastoral care and supervision for boarding students, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and home‑like environment. Reporting to the Head of Boarding, the role involves close interaction with students, parents, and school management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily routines such as wake‑up, meals, study periods and lights‑out.
• Monitor students' physical and emotional wellbeing and promptly raise any concerns.
• Enforce boarding house rules in line with school policies.
• Liaise with the Head of Boarding, parents/guardians and school leadership on student matters.
• Support students with organisation, time‑management and study sessions.
• Be on call according to the boarding duty roster, including evenings and weekends.

Required profile

• First‑degree (bachelor’s) or HND from a recognised institution.
• Minimum three years of experience in a boarding house or similar pastoral care setting.
• Caring, patient and nurturing disposition with a genuine interest in adolescent welfare.
• Strong sense of responsibility, integrity and sound judgement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with students and parents.
• Willingness to reside on or near the school premises and work a rotating duty roster.
• First aid training or certification is an advantage.
