Head of Recovery

About the role

Moniepoint Inc. is seeking a strategic leader to design and execute its debt recovery framework. As the Head of Recovery, you will combine legal expertise with operational excellence to minimise credit losses and drive efficient recovery of non‑performing loans.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement recovery strategies to reduce bad debt provisions.
• Serve as the primary legal strategist, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and debt‑collection laws.
• Manage high‑level engagements with law enforcement, regulatory bodies and external counsel to expedite resolution of non‑performing loans.
• Design the recovery organisation structure and lead the recruitment of top recovery talent.
• Set clear objectives and KPIs to optimise team performance and provide ongoing training.
• Report recovery performance and insights to senior management.
• Collaborate with credit, legal, risk and finance departments to align recovery efforts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in debt recovery/litigation in Nigeria.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian debt recovery laws, banking regulations and court procedures.
• Proven track record leading recovery teams and handling high‑value non‑performing loans across all six geopolitical zones.
• Extensive network of legal and law‑enforcement contacts nationwide.
