Geotechnical Laboratory Technician – Lagos

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Geotechnical Laboratory Technician to join our team in Lagos. You will be responsible for handling geological samples, conducting laboratory tests, and ensuring accurate data reporting in a fast‑paced, safety‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, label, and store geological samples safely for testing.
• Collect, catalogue, and organise laboratory materials and research specimens.
• Clean, maintain, set up and recalibrate all laboratory equipment.
• Prepare rock and soil specimens for analysis following Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain equipment records, daily work logs, and database management.
• Determine, perform, and record required lab tests, compile data, and report results.
• Answer queries related to test outcomes and ensure proper storage of earth samples.
• Support additional tasks assigned by the team lead.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Geology or a related applied science (minimum second‑class lower).
• 3‑5 years of experience as a laboratory technician in a geotechnical or geo‑environmental setting.
• Strong scientific reasoning, problem‑solving, and mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time‑management abilities.
• Commitment to health & safety, code of integrity, and professional conduct.
• Membership or eligibility for NAEGE or NMGS is a plus.
