Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (Fire & Gas Specialist)

About the role

Homik Engineering Limited is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer with a focus on fire and gas systems to join its Lagos office. The role involves delivering comprehensive electrical, instrumentation, and safety engineering solutions across concept, FEED, and detailed design phases for energy and utility projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs, calculations, and specifications for power generation, MV/LV distribution, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, switchgear, UPS, earthing and lightning protection.
• Perform load, cable sizing, voltage drop, short‑circuit, and protective device coordination studies.
• Create and review instrumentation documents such as instrument index, datasheets, I/O lists, cable schedules, hook‑up drawings, and logic diagrams.
• Define fire and gas detection philosophies, conduct mapping studies, and produce layout drawings and cause‑effect matrices.
• Support safety systems engineering, including ESD, PSD, SIS, SIL assessments, and participation in HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA workshops.
• Assist in the design and integration of DCS, PLC, SCADA, and ICSS platforms, reviewing control narratives and operational philosophies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, and fire‑gas engineering within the energy sector.
• Proven experience with FEED and detailed design deliverables.
• Familiarity with safety standards and hazard analysis methodologies.
