Credit Analyst

About the role

We are seeking a Credit Analyst to join our team at Charis MFB Limited in Lagos. The role involves assessing loan applications and providing sound recommendations to support quality lending decisions within our microfinance operations. You will work closely with relationship managers and senior credit officers to ensure that every credit decision aligns with our risk appetite and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess loan applications and evaluate customers' creditworthiness.
• Interpret financial statements to determine repayment capacity.
• Prepare detailed credit appraisal reports and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with CBN regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
• Monitor loan performance and recommend corrective actions when needed.
• Collaborate with relationship managers to gather necessary documentation and clarify credit issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, Business Administration or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in credit analysis or lending within a microfinance bank, commercial bank or similar financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of credit appraisal, financial analysis and risk assessment.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and make objective credit decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, high integrity and attention to detail.
