Collection Team Leader

About the role

Co-Matrix Collection Service Limited is seeking a Collection Team Leader to head its recovery team in Ijaiye, Lagos. The role involves driving debt‑recovery initiatives for multiple loan agencies, ensuring targets are met while maintaining ethical and legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the collection team.
• Set performance goals and targets for each team member.
• Provide training and guidance on recovery processes and techniques.
• Monitor progress of recovery efforts and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Handle escalated cases and resolve internal conflicts.
• Analyse performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Report team performance to management and present findings.
• Develop strategies to optimise recovery processes and increase efficiency.
• Ensure all collection activities are conducted ethically and in line with legal requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising a debt‑collection or recovery team.
• Strong understanding of collection regulations and ethical standards.
• Ability to set clear targets and motivate staff to achieve them.
• Excellent problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Data‑driven mindset for analysing performance metrics.
• Effective communication skills for reporting to senior management.

• Experience making high‑volume phone calls.
• Skilled in email outreach for debt recovery.
• Familiarity with using social media platforms for customer reminders.
