About the role

The Chief Operating Officer will lead the day‑to‑day clinical and administrative functions of an eye‑care hospital in Lagos. Reporting to the executive team, the COO will ensure efficient patient flow, high‑quality care, and sustainable financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee clinical and administrative operations across outpatient, surgical, and support units.
• Optimize patient flow and ensure safety and efficiency of all departments.
• Lead budget planning, resource allocation, and cost‑control initiatives.
• Monitor performance metrics and drive process improvements to enhance care quality.
• Collaborate with executive and clinical leadership on strategic initiatives and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor managers and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Review financial reports, coordinate cross‑functional projects, and represent operations in stakeholder discussions.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in operations management within healthcare or a comparable complex service environment.
• Strong business planning and strategic leadership abilities to guide hospital growth.
• Robust analytical skills for interpreting performance data and making evidence‑based decisions.
• Finance and budgeting expertise to manage operating budgets and control costs.
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams and collaborating with clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with an inclusive leadership style.
• Knowledge of hospital regulations, quality standards, and patient safety practices; eye‑care experience is a plus.
