Case Worker Team Leader – Zamfara

About the role

The Case Worker Team Leader will supervise a team of case workers delivering protection services to vulnerable beneficiaries in Zamfara. Reporting to the Technical Manager – Protection, the role ensures high‑quality case management, supports staff wellbeing, and handles complex cases directly when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, coach and support case workers through observation, shadowing, case file checks and bilateral discussions.
• Train case workers in basic counselling, communication and listening skills.
• Conduct weekly case conferences, raise critical cases to the Protection Coordinator and ensure timely follow‑up of open cases.
• Plan, implement and report on protection activities while maintaining a positive working environment.
• Assign cases based on experience, caseload and complexity, guaranteeing exhaustive resource use before case closure.
• Act as referral focal point for INTERSOS in the coverage area and balance workload across the team.
• Monitor security developments, flag issues to the Project Manager and support appropriate response planning.
• Ensure adherence to protection principles, code of conduct and internal SOPs; conduct regular case audits.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising case workers or similar protection staff.
• Strong knowledge of protection principles, humanitarian standards and case management SOPs.
• Ability to coach, mentor and provide emotional support to team members.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage case assignments, reporting and workload distribution.
