Budget & Accounting Assistant – Finance, Contract & Audit

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Abuja is looking for a Budget / Accounting Assistant (Local Agent Group 2) to support the Finance, Contract and Audit (FCA) section. The role is a fixed‑term position of two years, with a possible renewal depending on budgetary availability and operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of FCA Section in the contractual and financial management of EU‑funded projects and programmes.
• Support tender procedures, calls for proposals, contract administration, and payment/recovery processes.
• Follow up on audit matters and ensure compliance with EU financial regulations.
• Provide advice to operational sections and beneficiaries/contractors on contractual, financial and audit issues.
• Contribute to the application of sound financial management, legality and regularity in all activities.

Required profile

• Will work under the supervision of the Head of the FCA Section.
• Must be able to provide expertise and assistance in budgeting, accounting and contract management for EU‑funded initiatives.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing delegation needs and occasional atypical working hours.
