Biomedical Engineer

About the role

The Biomedical Engineer will support the design, selection, installation, testing, commissioning, calibration, maintenance and performance management of biomedical equipment for healthcare projects across Nigeria. Working closely with architects, M&E engineers, contractors and healthcare professionals, the role ensures that medical devices are integrated safely and meet all regulatory and project standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical biomedical engineering input during design, planning and implementation of healthcare facilities.
• Support selection, installation, testing, commissioning and integration of biomedical equipment.
• Carry out equipment calibration, functional testing, safety checks and performance verification.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment faults and recommend corrective actions.
• Assess equipment performance and advise on upgrades, replacements or repairs.
• Review specifications, technical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Assist procurement by evaluating suppliers, quotations and technical bids.
• Participate in site inspections, project meetings, quality assurance checks and commissioning activities.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, calibration data and asset documentation.

Required profile

• Entry‑level biomedical engineering background (up to 2 years relevant experience).
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams on construction and healthcare projects.
• Familiarity with ISO standards, WHO guidelines and Nigerian healthcare regulations.

Required skills

• Biomedical equipment selection and integration.
