Audit Associate

About the role

We are seeking an Audit Associate to lead and participate in audit engagements for our banking, finance and insurance clients in Lagos. The role involves planning, executing and finalising audits while mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with IFRS and ISA standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead audit engagements from planning through completion, preparing audit programs and working papers using CaseWare.
• Supervise, coach and review the work of junior audit associates to ensure quality and compliance.
• Perform substantive testing, analytical procedures and evaluate internal controls and business risks.
• Review financial statements for IFRS compliance and prepare management letters and audit reports.
• Liaise with clients to obtain audit evidence, resolve queries and support field audit assignments such as inventory and cash counts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and manage multiple engagements while meeting deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 4–6 years of progressive audit experience in a reputable audit or professional services firm.
• Relevant professional qualification such as ICAN (ACA); ACCA qualification or progression is an advantage.
• Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior auditors.
• Strong technical competence in IFRS, ISA, financial reporting, risk assessment and internal controls.
