Associate, Fraud Risk

About the role

Flutterwave is seeking a Fraud Risk Associate to lead fraud detection and prevention initiatives. The role focuses on monitoring transactions, designing fraud rules, and collaborating with internal teams to protect the company’s payment ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Review and investigate daily alerts to identify suspicious or unusual transactions.
• Design, implement, and continuously optimize fraud monitoring rules.
• Conduct thorough investigations of potentially fraudulent transactions and brand‑related violations.
• Monitor chargebacks, merchant activity, and recurring fraud patterns to keep exposure below scheme thresholds.
• Engage with merchants and internal stakeholders to resolve fraud/brand risk cases promptly.
• Support risk operations during external and regulatory audits.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of experience in fraud risk management, transaction monitoring, and rule design.
• Strong knowledge of card processing, payment fraud prevention, and brand risk management.
• Excellent research, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with authorities, merchants, and internal teams.
• Ability to handle customer inquiries and diffuse upset customers.

Required skills

• SQL for data analysis and rule optimization.
• Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) proficiency.
• Data analytics techniques.
