WASH Manager (P-4) – Abuja, Nigeria

About the role

The WASH Manager will strengthen programme quality, consistency and implementation oversight across UNICEF's water, sanitation and hygiene portfolio in Nigeria. Reporting to the Chief WASH, the role ensures that interventions are delivered to high standards and achieve sustainable results for children and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH programme.
• Improve consistency and quality of WASH infrastructure and services across programme areas.
• Strengthen monitoring, documentation and verification of programme results.
• Apply risk‑informed planning and implementation practices.
• Provide technical guidance and management support throughout programming processes.
• Offer authoritative advisory services to government and sector agencies, interacting with senior officials and international development banks.
• Identify and resolve implementation challenges in a timely manner.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in managing WASH programmes in humanitarian or development settings.
• Proven ability to lead programme development, implementation and evaluation.
• Experience providing technical guidance to government and partner organisations.
• Strong analytical skills to support evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Capacity to oversee risk‑informed planning, quality assurance and implementation oversight.
