Vice President, Book Publishing

About the role

Kobodirect Publishing is seeking a Vice President, Book Publishing to lead the full lifecycle of its publishing operations from Nigeria. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, this senior executive will shape editorial strategy, drive business growth, and ensure operational excellence across a diverse catalogue.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute publishing strategy for non‑fiction, educational, children’s and faith‑based titles.
• Identify, acquire and negotiate publishing opportunities with authors, institutions and partners.
• Oversee the complete editorial process from acquisition to final delivery, including developmental editing, copy editing, proofreading, typesetting, cover design and production quality assurance.
• Develop and maintain editorial standards, style guides and production workflows.
• Build and lead high‑performing publishing teams in Nigeria and internationally.
• Manage annual budgets, revenue forecasts, P&L statements and cost‑control initiatives.
• Expand the catalogue with original intellectual property and educational projects.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in book publishing or related media sectors.
• Strong editorial vision combined with business development and financial management expertise.
• Track record of building and scaling publishing teams.
• Ability to work collaboratively with authors, editors, illustrators and external partners.
