Veterinary Doctor

About the role

The Veterinary Doctor will lead animal health programmes across our breeder, hatchery and broiler operations in Enugu. You will be responsible for maintaining flock health, ensuring welfare standards and supporting high‑performance production.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute vaccination schedules, medication protocols and routine inspections for breeder, hatchery and broiler flocks.
• Diagnose, treat and manage disease outbreaks, coordinate post‑mortem examinations and laboratory testing.
• Develop, implement and monitor bio‑security measures to prevent disease introduction and spread.
• Oversee flock health from egg production through grow‑out, ensuring targets for growth, mortality and welfare are met.
• Advise farm and hatchery teams on nutrition, husbandry, housing and environmental conditions.
• Maintain accurate veterinary records, including treatment logs, mortality data and disease surveillance reports.
• Ensure compliance with animal health regulations, drug withdrawal periods and food safety standards.
• Train and supervise farm attendants and technicians on health practices and early disease detection.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, government veterinary services and external laboratories as required.
• Provide on‑call support during health emergencies, disease outbreaks or high‑mortality events.

Required profile

• BSc in Veterinary Medicine or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in a similar role within poultry or livestock production.
• Strong knowledge of disease diagnosis, treatment protocols and bio‑security practices.
• Familiarity with animal health regulations and food safety standards.
• Ability to maintain detailed records and produce clear reports.
• Effective communication skills for training staff and liaising with authorities.
