Technical Director – Poultry & Aquaculture (Nigeria)

About the role
The Technical Director will lead the design, implementation and monitoring of the USDA Food for Progress Nigeria project, focusing on poultry and aquaculture value chains. Based in Lagos, the role works closely with beneficiaries, technical experts and support staff to improve productivity, food safety and trade competitiveness.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the three core project activities, ensuring technical quality and alignment with USDA objectives.
- Provide training, mentorship and capacity‑building for project staff and partners.
- Identify bottlenecks in production systems and develop solutions to reduce non‑tariff trade barriers.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement across the poultry and aquaculture sectors.
- Monitor progress, prepare technical reports and communicate results to the Chief of Party.
Required profile
- Executive‑level experience (minimum 10 years) in poultry and/or aquaculture production systems.
- Proven track record of enhancing productivity and competitiveness in agricultural value chains.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and trade regulations.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor technical staff.
