Team Leader – WISH P&S Programme

About the role

The Team Leader will act as the central representative for the Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) – Policy and Systems (P&S) programme, overseeing delivery across seven African countries. Reporting to the Programme Director, this senior position provides strategic and technical guidance to Country Leads and ensures high‑quality, demand‑driven technical assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for all WISH P&S workstreams, including monitoring, evaluation, learning, and financial management.
• Guide Country Leads in developing and implementing annual workplans that align with programme objectives.
• Ensure timely, high‑quality completion of technical deliverables and achievement of payment KPIs.
• Oversee programme and financial management in partnership with the Regional Finance and Operations Manager and Programme Management Unit.
• Maintain value‑for‑money commitments and track progress against logframe targets.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) on programme strategy and day‑to‑day operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading multi‑country development or technical assistance programmes.
• Strong understanding of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and demographic transition issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, including government and donor partners.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a results‑oriented mindset.
