Tax Manager

About the role

The Tax Manager will provide strategic tax advisory and planning services to corporate and individual clients while ensuring full regulatory compliance. This senior‑level role involves leading tax compliance, audit engagements, and risk management initiatives across a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver tax planning strategies for mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, financing and other business transactions.
• Oversee preparation, review and timely filing of all federal, state and local tax returns, including income tax, VAT, WHT, PAYE, capital gains tax and statutory levies.
• Lead statutory tax audits, investigations, due‑diligence reviews and represent clients before FIRS, state revenue services and customs authorities.
• Assess clients’ tax control frameworks, identify compliance risks and recommend improvements to tax governance and internal controls.
• Manage a portfolio of tax clients, build long‑term relationships and identify cross‑selling opportunities for advisory services.
• Supervise, coach and mentor junior tax professionals, allocate assignments and monitor project delivery and budgets.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in tax advisory, compliance and audit within the banking, finance or insurance sector.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, regulations and emerging policies.
• Proven ability to manage complex client engagements and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
