Tax Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented and experienced Tax Accountant to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will ensure statutory tax compliance, manage tax filings, support audits and liaise with regulatory authorities while adhering to Nigerian tax laws and financial reporting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure monthly compliance with VAT, WHT, PAYE, Pension, NSITF, Union and Cooperative deductions.
• Prepare monthly tax provisions, including minimum tax and additional PAYE.
• Review tax computations, prepare payment schedules, file statutory returns and maintain evidence of tax payments.
• Manage tax and statutory audits with FIRS, State IRAs, NSITF, ITF, NEPC and other bodies.
• Respond to official tax notices, queries and information requests promptly.
• Liaise with tax consultants and government agencies on transfer pricing, export incentives, grants and tax clearance.
• Facilitate employees’ annual Tax Clearance Certificates and negotiate professional fees with external consultants.
• Ensure timely closure of outstanding tax audits and settlement of any additional liabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of tax accounting experience, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing.
• Membership of a recognized professional accounting body (ICAN, ACCA, ANAN or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, Pension, NSITF).
• Good understanding of IFRS, Local GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with high accuracy.
