Supply & Logistics Officer (Temporary) – Abuja

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Supply & Logistics Officer on a temporary appointment to lead and support supply chain operations that enable effective delivery of goods and services for children programmes in Nigeria. The role combines strategic planning, operational oversight and partnership coordination to ensure efficient, accountable logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Supply Team in planning, performance management and capacity building.
• Advise, plan and oversee all UNICEF logistics operations, monitoring performance and ensuring accountability.
• Implement emergency preparedness strategies, including agreements, stock pre‑positioning and staff training.
• Coordinate with regional, global and governmental partners to align supply chain strategies and drive continuous improvement.
• Support programme, procurement and donor engagement by documenting supply activities and monitoring supply elements.
• Provide technical advisory support to strengthen government supply chains and facilitate transition of logistics activities.
• Assist with pilot projects, product launches and innovation initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree or equivalent professional experience in supply chain, logistics or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in managing logistics operations in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on results.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
