About the role
The SRH Community Mobilization Assistant will support community‑based activities that increase awareness, acceptance and use of voluntary family planning and other sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services for women, adolescent girls, men and boys in Anka, Nigeria. Working under the Health Manager, the role links communities with health facilities, drives demand generation and helps ensure continuity of care.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct community assessments to identify barriers, misconceptions and unmet needs related to family planning and develop tailored mobilization activities.
- Organise and lead culturally appropriate health education sessions on contraception, birth spacing, postpartum family planning and maternal‑newborn health.
- Engage traditional, religious and other community leaders, as well as men and youth groups, to build support for voluntary FP and SRH services.
- Facilitate referrals of interested clients to health facilities or outreach points, follow up on referrals and track community‑facility linkages while maintaining confidentiality.
- Supervise and mentor community volunteers, peer educators and male champions, monitoring their activities and ensuring use of approved messages and referral procedures.
- Collect, document and report community‑level data on mobilization activities, referrals and feedback, contributing to weekly summaries and monthly program reports.
