SQL Specialist

About the role

The SQL Specialist will join Sam Trillion Consult’s data team in Enugu, Nigeria, designing, implementing and optimizing SQL databases that power the firm’s analytics, AI and consulting projects. This full‑time, on‑site position works closely with data analysts, data scientists and developers to ensure reliable, high‑performance data pipelines and reporting solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain database schemas and structures.
• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
• Ensure data integrity, performance, and security across all databases.
• Collaborate with analysts, scientists and developers to build efficient data pipelines and automate workflows.
• Support reporting and dashboarding needs for internal and client projects.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations.
• Document database designs, processes and best‑practice guidelines.
• Contribute to data‑management standards for both client and internal initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience with SQL and at least one general‑purpose programming language such as Python.
• Strong understanding of relational database design, optimization, indexing and data modeling.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and basic system administration for database deployment.
• Experience with version‑control systems and software development best practices.
• Ability to work with large datasets and support analytics‑driven projects.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and clear communication of technical concepts.
