Specialist Nurse Chemo Infusion

About the role

The Specialist Nurse Chemo Infusion provides specialized nursing care to patients receiving chemotherapy, ensuring safe preparation, administration, monitoring, and patient education within a multidisciplinary oncology team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and administer chemotherapy and other oncology‑related infusions according to established protocols.
• Monitor patients during and after chemotherapy for immediate adverse reactions and intervene as needed.
• Maintain and manage IV lines, ports, and catheters using aseptic technique.
• Educate patients and families about chemotherapy treatments, side effects, and home‑care instructions.
• Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of cytotoxic drugs and adhere to infection‑control and PPE requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of drug administration, patient assessments, and report any adverse reactions promptly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a diploma with post‑basic training in oncology/haematology.
• Valid practising licence and membership in a relevant nursing association.
• Minimum of 3 years clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in oncology or chemotherapy administration.
• Completion of post‑basic training in oncology or haematology.
