Shutdown Preparation Lead – Offshore FPSO

About the role

The Shutdown Preparation Lead will support a major offshore shutdown campaign on a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Reporting on a technical support contract, the role is responsible for leading and coordinating all preparation activities to ensure safe and efficient execution of the Field Facility Shutdown (FFSD).

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all preparation activities for the offshore FFSD campaign.
• Manage and supervise a multidisciplinary team covering mechanical static equipment, structural, electrical & instrumentation, lifting operations, and logistics.
• Compile, review, validate, and approve job packs and job cards.
• Review technical documentation such as isometric drawings, method statements, spading and isolation plans, lifting plans, and job risk assessments.
• Conduct regular offshore site visits to monitor progress, resolve preparation issues, and ensure stakeholder alignment.
• Support shutdown planning including work sequencing, resource allocation, and execution strategies.
• Coordinate interfaces between engineering, operations, maintenance, contractors, and planning teams.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE requirements and industry best practices throughout the preparation phase.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil & gas process industry with proven involvement in major shutdowns, turnarounds, or maintenance campaigns on offshore facilities, FPSOs, refineries or petrochemical plants.
• Strong understanding of mechanical static equipment, piping systems, isolation processes, lifting operations and E&I activities.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑coordination skills in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent organizational, planning and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
