Shipping Assistant

About the role

The Shipping Assistant supports export container loading operations, ensuring every container meets quality, security and compliance standards before and during stuffing. You will work closely with warehouse teams, agents and the Port Tracking Team to guarantee safe and efficient movement of cargo.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑loading inspections of empty containers and capture clear photographs of containers and drivers for documentation.
• Dress containers with required dry bags, corrugated boards and kraft paper before loading.
• Verify high‑security sealing hooks and reject containers that do not meet security standards.
• Jointly inspect containers with the warehouse team to confirm suitability for loading.
• Check ventilation holes, structural condition, cleanliness, dryness and overall cargo‑worthiness.
• Supervise and monitor container stuffing to ensure compliance with company procedures.
• Report stock levels of dressing materials to the Logistics Department.
• Prepare and submit daily reports of loaded trucks to the Port Tracking Team.
• Maintain organized records and secure backups of inspection photographs and loading documents.
• Immediately report any non‑compliance, damaged containers or security concerns.
• Coordinate outstation operations and stuffing at designated terminals when required.

Required profile

• Minimum HND or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transport Management, Maritime Studies or related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in shipping, warehouse operations, logistics or export documentation.
• Basic knowledge of Nigerian export procedures and the operations of NCS, NPA, shipping lines and export terminals (advantageous).
• Strong attention to detail, integrity and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using smartphones or digital devices for inspection documentation and record keeping.
