Senior Sexual Reproductive Health Officer – Capacity Building

About the role

The Senior Sexual Reproductive Health Officer will provide technical support, capacity building, quality assurance and implementation follow‑up for the IRC Impact@Scale project in government primary health centres and IRC static facilities in Sokoto, Nigeria. Reporting to the Roving SRH Manager, the officer will work closely with facility leadership, government counterparts and community staff to increase voluntary access to modern contraception and improve postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) management using the E‑MOTIVE bundle.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, facilitate and follow up competency‑based training, on‑the‑job coaching, clinical mentorship, simulation drills and supportive supervision for health workers delivering SRH services.
• Strengthen provider skills in family planning counseling, method provision, infection prevention, documentation and referral, and support the application of the E‑MOTIVE components for early detection and treatment of PPH.
• Use structured mentorship plans, skills checklists, action trackers and competency assessment tools to document progress and identify additional support needs.
• Conduct routine supportive supervision visits, assess service quality, commodity and equipment readiness, and develop facility‑specific action plans to address gaps.
• Build capacity in related SRH areas such as maternal and newborn health, antenatal/postnatal care, safe delivery, BEmONC readiness, post‑abortion care, STI management and adolescent‑responsive services.
