Senior Nurse, Outpatient Clinic

About the role

The Senior Nurse, Outpatient Clinic will lead outpatient care at the African Medical Centre of Excellence, ensuring smooth patient flow, managing minor procedures, and delivering patient education. The role requires expert clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to mentor nursing staff to provide a high‑quality outpatient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial and follow‑up patient assessments, record vital signs, medical history, and develop personalized care plans.
• Oversee medication administration, wound care, and other treatments while supervising junior nurses.
• Coordinate patient flow, schedule follow‑up appointments, and manage referrals to ensure continuity of care.
• Develop and deliver education programs for patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and self‑care.
• Prepare and assist physicians during examinations and procedures, maintaining sterile techniques and infection control.
• Maintain accurate patient records, complete required documentation, and report adverse reactions promptly.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives and participate in professional development activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and registration with the appropriate nursing regulatory body.
• Minimum 3‑5 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting, focusing on outpatient or ambulatory care.
• Specialized certifications such as cardiac nursing or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are advantageous.
• Current, valid nursing license and active participation in continuing education.

Required skills
