Senior Legal Associate (Fintech/Payments)

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing technology company that provides payment solutions for businesses in Africa, is looking for a Senior Legal Associate. You will ensure that products and operations comply with legal, regulatory and ethical standards while driving efficient legal processes.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as merchant, partner, NDA and vendor contracts.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, clause libraries and playbooks to improve consistency.
• Maintain organized, audit‑ready contract repositories and documentation systems.
• Support corporate governance, legal operations, litigation assistance and advisory services.
• Collaborate with fraud/dispute, HR, finance, sales, product, engineering and customer support teams.
• Identify and implement process improvements and scalable legal workflows.

Required profile

• Law degree (LL.B or equivalent).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar legal role.
• Prior experience in financial services or fintech is a strong asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication, stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and manage multiple projects in a high‑growth environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using legal technology tools such as contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems and workflow automation platforms.
