Senior Legal Associate (Fintech/Payments)

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing technology company that provides payment solutions for businesses in Africa, is looking for a Senior Legal Associate. You will join the Legal team to ensure that products and operations comply with legal, regulatory and ethical standards while supporting cross‑functional initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as merchant, partner, NDA and vendor contracts.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, clause libraries and playbooks to improve efficiency.
• Maintain organized, audit‑ready contract repositories and documentation systems.
• Provide legal support to fraud/disputes, HR, finance, sales, product, engineering and customer support teams.
• Assist the Head of Legal with corporate governance, litigation support and advisory services.
• Drive process improvements and scalable legal workflows in a high‑growth environment.

Required profile

• Law degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in the financial services or fintech sector is a strong asset.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using legal technology tools such as contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems and workflow automation platforms.
