Senior Lecturer – Maritime Studies

About the role

Sealearn is looking for an experienced Senior Lecturer in Maritime Studies to strengthen its academic team. The successful candidate will combine strong industry credentials with proven teaching expertise to deliver high‑quality education and research.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and update curricula in line with IMO/STCW regulations and industry trends.
• Create and deliver lecture, seminar and practical training materials, including simulation exercises and mock‑ups.
• Supervise junior faculty, providing feedback on courseware and mentorship.
• Guide student projects, dissertations and assessments.
• Conduct academic research, publish in reputable journals and present at conferences.
• Participate in accreditation, quality‑assurance and internal committee activities.
• Collaborate with maritime industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies to enhance graduate employability.
• Contribute to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes.

Required profile

• Recognized professional certification (e.g., Master Mariner, Chief Engineer) from a reputable flag administration.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 20 years of experience in maritime education, seagoing, or shore‑based maritime roles.
• Proven teaching and curriculum‑development experience at the higher‑education level.
• Completion of an Administration‑approved Train‑the‑Trainer or Train‑the‑Simulator Trainer course.

Required skills
