Senior Finance Officer – Abuja

About the role

Nutrition International is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to support the Finance & Administration Manager in the Abuja Country Office. The role ensures accurate financial management, compliance, and timely reporting while collaborating closely with the Regional Office and program teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare weekly payment batches, maintain bank books, and produce mid‑month, month‑end, and year‑end financial reports.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations, petty‑cash reporting, and related reconciliations.
• Post weekly transactions in NetSuite (NICOR), including journal entries, accounts payable, and manual payments.
• Conduct monthly General Ledger reconciliations in NICOR to support accurate reporting.
• Process operational payment requests, travel authorizations, and expense reports in line with policies.
• Assist staff with the Contracts Lifecycle Management (CLM) system and NetSuite ERP.
• Support annual statutory and internal audits, preparing draft financial statements and audit schedules.
• Coordinate monthly payroll with the local service provider, ensuring compliance with labour, tax, and social security regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Banking or Finance.
• Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA (highly desirable).
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in an international NGO.
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices, financial systems, budgeting, cash‑flow monitoring, and internal controls.

Required skills

• Proficiency with NetSuite (NICOR) accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite.
